The importance of website backups
A new client recently approached us with a problem. His website – hosted by another company – had been hacked and they had destroyed both the theme and the data. His original web developer had not kept a copy of the site, and had not set up backups on the webserver. So that was it, his website was gone.
Another more tech-savvy client had a WordPress website which they regularly maintained, often applying updates themselves. One day they applied the latest set of updates… and found their website was broken after doing so.
After spending some investigating exactly the problem was, we decided that the best option was to restore the most recent backup, taken a few days earlier. Within 5 minutes of making that decision, the client’s site was back up and running.
The moral of the story is that backups are invaluable.
We always take a backup of our websites at the point at which they go live, so we always have something to fall back on if the worst should happen. However, with content-managed websites, the content often changes drastically from when the website went live. If the website were to be hacked, these changes would be lost.
For this reason, we have decided to offer a dedicated backup service to our customers.
We appreciate that our clients will have varying requirements, so we have created a variety of packages to meet your needs:
Bronze Package
£2.50 per month, payable annually in advance |
||
Silver Package
£5.00 per month, payable annually in advance |
||
Gold Package

Tailor-made Packages
Please speak to us if you have requirements which go beyond the standard packages – we will be happy to discuss and provide advice.
We are working with a global technology partner to provide this backup service off-site; all backups will be stored in a secure data-centre independent of our own servers.
